Shweta is a Senior Associate in the Kochhar Dubai office. She has practiced law in the UAE for over seven (7) years. Her practice areas include banking & finance, corporate advisory, employment law, mergers & acquisitions, succession planning including foundations, wills & probate.
She is part of the Firm’s employment desk and advises clients on a wide array of labour related matters. She has prepared several employment contracts, employee handbooks, manuals and policies complying with UAE and DIFC employments laws. Additionally, she regularly conducts workshops on prevention of sexual harassment at workplace and assists clients involved in labour disputes with mediation as well as resolution of such disputes.
Shweta has also been regularly advising clients with foreign direct investment in the UAE and on UAE law related compliances applicable across various sectors in the mainland as well as freezones. She has considerable experience in conducting due diligence on entities in the UAE as well as drafting and reviewing share purchase agreements, joint venture and shareholders’ agreements, asset purchase agreements, distribution and agency agreements and other commercial documentation in conformity with UAE law. Shweta also assists with putting in place sound corporate governance structures in compliance with applicable UAE laws and regulations.
Apart from the above, Shweta regularly advises several local UAE and foreign banks in respect of fund based and non-fund-based facilities – preparation of facility agreements, corporate authorizations and all other documents in relation to completing the transaction, creation/ perfection and enforcement of security interests and advising banks in relation to cross border transactions with borrowers within and outside the UAE.
Shweta has also worked extensively in assisting clients with succession planning including setting up foundations, preparation of wills as well as probate procedures.
